Dead Rooster–Winner of TWO Academy Awards–FIVE Thumbs Up!
I’d like to thank the academy…
Whoa! Wait a minute; someone replaced my Oscar Statues with Arte Y Pico awards! What’s going on here? And, not only that! They got chocolate in my peanut butter!
These Picos are marked! They’re a mess—a CHOCOLATE mess!
OK, it turns out that Dead Rooster really has been awarded two Arte Y Pico awards. The Pico is given to blogs “…for their creativity, design, interesting material, etc and also for contributing to the blogging community…” or bloggers “…who inspire others with their creativity and their talents, also for contributing to the blogging world in whatever medium…”
Notice that it says nothing about irreversibly damaging the minds of the world’s youth or that reading Dead Rooster can cause uncontrollable spontaneous diarrhea (See, mom! I told you it didn’t do it to EVERYBODY that reads it). In fact, the Pico award is something a blogger could really be proud of!
I am greatly honored to accept these awards and want to thank the two generous bloggers that issued them to me:
Now, according to the rules, I am supposed to “show the link of Arte Y Pico” and pick five blogs in which I’d “…like to award this honor to.”
But, after doing a little research on this Arte Y Pico, I find out that his award has been given out to (at the time of this writing) 67,750 bloggers! That’s more than SIXTY-SEVEN-THOUSAND links back to his site. It appears that this Arte Y Pico (if that’s his real name) is in reality an Evil Genius with the mother of all link back scams!
Therefore, I am hereby SWIPING his idea by issuing MY OWN award and in the process CUTTING HIM OUT of the deal completely! Sixty-seven-thousand links is enough you greedy bastard!
The Dead Rooster Award for DIABOLICAL GREATNESS in the field of blogging.

I think I might have inadvertently received one of your Arte y Pico awards as a part of an award laundering scheme… Alice of Honey Pie sent it to me, and it has chocolate and peanut butter all over it. I had NO idea the award was hot!
Geez… That post-awards-ceremony party isn’t going to be half as much fun now.
But at least I can give DeadRooster awards to all my online friends!

Indeed, that is brilliant. I think perhaps I should go sit in a bar and just try to dream up the next big scam that will drive enough traffic to my site to bring it to it’s knees. Just brilliant and I’m amazed that I didn’t see through that…sigh…I’m an idioit sometimes. hahahahaha (just kidding, I’m actually quite intelligent if I say so myself)

Nice idea!!! You know it might be optimized in order to make it work better! I will think about it. Because probably the site which got 67,750 links, should be having a lot traffic already or he was the first who created this Idea. Any way it’s a Great Job

Great Post! Best acceptance speech of the Arte y Pico ever! And you’re right about the linkbacks…I thought how brilliant that was myself when I was awarded two of the suckers and passed it on to 10 unknowing victims. Gee, this really a bomb hehehe..you just opened the really serious part of an “award-giving-person-for-personal-gain” scheme. We (bloggers) doesn’t realized that by accepting the biggest and most prestigious “arte-Y-traffic” blog award, were catapulting the Alexa rank as well as blog page ranking of the person who devised this tactic. All I can say is Congrats to that person. Nice one! Bravo!
It looks like we really need to practice our “use your better judgement” system of thinking.
And, I’ll be waiting my turn to give out my own named award style… maybe after the issue with arte-Y-traffic awards died out…

Hey William, My first time here and I find out that there is an award going around that I knew nothing about!! What the real bummer is that I was not even a nominee, the Academy must have lost my entry… unless they are against “Money Making Blogs.” Do you think you’ll be walking down the “Red Carpet”? Also is there anyway you could get me in on this award … I think I really need an award!! Love your blog and will certainly be back (just in case there is another award give-away) just to see what else is happening to the Dead Rooster. P.S. I was attacked by a rooster when I was in my teens and the owner of the bird took a 2×4 and yes he was a dead rooster. True story.
